"The Shaolin Disciples" hail from Dengfeng, China, home of the world
famous Shaolin Temple. These martial arts masters began training at
an early age at the nearby Shaolin Qi Pan Shan Kungfu Institute,
established by 35th generation Shaolin monk Shi De Ying (Master
Wang Haiying) after many years as instructor at the temple.
The martial arts system known as "Kungfu" was developed at Shaolin
over 1,500 years ago. Originally designed to provide exercise for the
sedentary religious monks, these exercises evolved into a form of
moving meditation. These "martial meditations" had the added benefit
of teaching the monks how to defend the temple against marauding
warlords. Over time, the temple's population divided into two distinct
bodies; the Shaolin religious monks and the Shaolin martial monks,
who became the most revered fighters in all of China.
Continuing that tradition, the disciples of Shi De Ying and the Shaolin
Qi Pan Shan Kungfu institute hold numerous gold medals in
international competitions. In addition to lightening fast fight
sequences and traditional weapons demonstrations, the Shaolin
Disciples perform super-human feats of “Qigong” in which their bodies
become impervious to spears, beds of nails, and various rocks,
bricks, wood, and metal objects which are broken over the head
and other parts of the body.
